ADC Graduate Fellow awarded

Dr. Liuqing Yang has been named the winner of the University of Minnesota Graduate School’s Best Dissertation Award in the Physical Sciences and Engineering in 2005.

Dr. Yang received an ADC Graduate Fellowship in 2003-04. The ADC Graduate Fellowship, which is made possible through funding from ADC and the University of Minnesota, provides a stipend and tuition support. The major focus of the fellowship program is to enhance research activities in the area of wireless and advanced networking technology at the Digital Technology Center.

This is a considerable honor for Dr. Yang, her dissertation adviser, Professor Georgios Giannakis, the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering, and the DTC.

Dr. Yang’s thesis, which she defended in June, 2004, is entitled, “Ultra-Wideband Wireless Communications: From Concept to Reality.”

Dr. Yang is now an assistant professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
